Hi, I'm Dai. I make books.

I also design posters and advertisements, make digital games accessible to the visually impaired, manage crowdfunding projects, create brand identities and marketing plans, and very occassionally write things.

The Monster Overhaul
Ferrous Escargot Z & Ferrous Escargot DZZ: Divine Zero Zenith
A6 softcover, 30pp and 34pp
ISBN 978-1-735-60564-7
2022 and 2024

Ferrous Escargot is a tabletop game supplement that gives players all the tools they need to run a campaign inspired by pulp WW2 action media like Metal Slug. Tasked with designing logos and covers for both the initial book and its expanded edition, I took inspiration from video game and anime logos of the early 2000s.

Cover art was created by combining and editing various WW2 propaganda posters together to create images of explosive action, steadfast heroes, and snail tanks. An alternate cover version of FE: DZZ came about as I was playing around with blend modes and found something that, when combined with a piece of public-domain war art I found, was suitably reminiscent of the work of Yoji Shinkawa, an artist I have always had a great respect and fondness for.
